This space was a tired two bedroom one den condo with galley kitchen, 7’ ceilings and tired parquet floors.  It was entirely gutted to the demising walls, exposing raw concrete.  HVAC was reworked to consolidate it such that ceilings were raised to almost 8’ in some areas, and bulkheads were moved into bathrooms and lesser used spaces.  The entry hall was 6’ wide for the length of the unit, and 18” of that length was borrowed to create floor to ceiling storage, as well as a gallery wall for artwork.  The client is also a “foodie” so the kitchen was redesigned to accommodate two people with multiple moveable surfaces for food prep.

Rooms “morph” to suit the need, for example, the Living Room becomes the Family Room when the TV pops up from behind the book case.  And, the Dining Room becomes the Guest Bedroom when a built in Murphy Bed drops off of a concrete wall to become a queen sized bed.

Family heirloom furnishings are artfully placed in the contemporary minimalist space.  Furnishings and finishes were selected to enhance light flow throughout the space, including frosted glass doors, glass shelving units and glass accent tables.  Furniture is off the floor so that it floats in the space creating a sense of calm and openness.
